Portobello Road

Portobello Road market is one of the most famous markets in the world, internationally recognised for its second-hand and antiques sections. Notting Hill’s quaint and idyllic streets make a fantastic tourist trail – even as Londoners we love the walk from Notting Hill Tube Station down to Portobello Road Market – and there are some fantastic shops and boutiques along the way. The market can be separated into three parts. At the Nottinghill end you’ll find antique stalls and shops selling everything from jewellery to home artefacts. There are also quite a few old and new art shops.

Further down Portobello Road you’ll find plenty of traditional street market stalls selling food, fruit & veg, clothing and fast eats. The market is always buzzling and vibey. At the North end of Portobello Road you’ll find plenty of vintage and retro stalls, women’s jumble style stalls where you can pick up garments for a fiver, second hand bric a brac & furniture.

Deptford Market

Developers have big ambitions for Deptford in South East London. Could it be the new Shoreditch of South East London? It’s certainly making the right moves. It has a cool-cat “scene,” lots of great bars and places to eat as well as a budding artistic community. Little Nans is a popular drinking & eating hole as is The London Particular. You’ll also find Vinyl record shop and cafe who have recently departed the bright lights of Camden & Soho to be in Deptford. It’s a great time to visit Deptford and there’s lots to explore.

Deptford Market itself is still keeping it real. It’s a traditional street market with lots of fresh produce, fruit & veg, fish, multi-cultural food, haberdashery, clothing, shoes and fashion items, fabric, curtains and household items. The most popular and by far the best part of Deptford Market is the Bric-a-Brac  and Secondhand market on Douglas Way, which can be found at the end of Deptford High Street. Great for a rummage and you can even find the odd bargain. Both markets are open every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9am-6pm.

Open: Every Wed/Fri/Sat 9am-6pm
