This is Not the Godfather: A.K.A. BIG SHOT “BIG SHOT is a vaudevillian theatrical collage inspired by The Godfather films and novel. They chose The Godfather because of its iconic status and cultural influence. A big part of what made The Godfather so well received, was its ability to present the gangster genre via a dysfunctional family. Everyone could relate. For BIG SHOT, their intent is not to recreate the film, but to use it as an inspiration to create a new work echoing the source and investigating these themes: family dynamics, power, criminal behavior, being an Italian American.”
